Hi Fun Friends!
This has taken me some time to pull together but as promised in my the post Guest Bedroom Reveal Part 1, here is the other side of my guest bedroom! And the reveal of the buffet makeover!
If you remember this is what it looked like just a short time ago. I mean days!!
Some of items I was using in this guest room were unintentional. The lamp was too small, the buffet too dark, the mirror too gold, and the other items just boring. I call them leftovers, a hodgepodge of items that haven’t found a home anywhere else. I’m still tweaking other parts of the house but this space had became a priority, and I finished everything before my guests arrived!
So much prettier!
How I did it
The doors and drawers were painted with two coats of Dixie Belle Paint in Fluff and then waxed with Dixie Belle Best Darn Wax in Clear. (You can buy these items from my on line store if you’re interested! Plug! 😉
I didn’t distress, but it’s super easy to go back and distress if I decide the buffet needs it.
Remember I did this in an afternoon with guests coming soon! This was such a quick and easy way to update this piece.
You may know by now that I don’t have any patience and here is another example! I painted quickly without tape and this can happen.
But orbital sander to the rescue! This guy is a lifesaver! Just a quick sanding is all it takes to make this edge look great again! I did wax this edge too!
The paper lining was still in good condition from the last time I moved and due to my hurry I left it the same.
The handles may get a little love in the future but for now I’m pleased.
Can you guess who the little cuties are in the pictures? I added fresh flowers for my special guests but left the faux foliage in one of the boxes I made.
Guest Room Reveal
Here you can see the rest of the changes I made before guests arrived. The three spindles were thrift store finds I gave a quick coat of Dixie Belle Paint again in Fluff to add some interest. Well I did have the jar open!!! The framed art is the companion to the one over the nightstand, I made them using scrapbook paper. Not sure that qualifies as art!
Another thing that wasn’t quite right was the shiny gold mirror. I painted it in Fluff, same afternoon, same open jar, and then waxed it with dark wax. The paint really toned it down and the wax brought out the details of the intricate carving. I found a taller lamp in my stash and really like it with the shade from the tiny lamp.
Flowers are always the best finishing touch. Shows your guests you care!
I hope you enjoyed seeing my Guest bedroom makeover! Until next time,
