Folding clothes is my least favorite part of laundry. How about you?
Here’s our laundry room where I do all that folding! It’s not as functional or organized as I would like, so something needs to change! I may have mentioned we’re in a rented townhouse and can’t do anything about the design of the laundry room or the color, but I can make it pretty and more functional!!First by removing items in the space that just don’t belong. The dryer was a holding place for everything that was waiting to go in the garage. Not functioning as the laundry room of my dreams!
The Laundry Room Reveal
With a budget of about $35 I went to my favorite discount stores and searched for some nice inexpensive baskets to get this mess under control. I cut little pieces of thin backing board and painted them with Chalkboard Paint so I could write on the front and then attached the signs with wire rings.
The baskets compliment each other and give me places to put the not so attractive necessities of laundry. Once everything that I really needed was in place. I had plenty of room to decorate!!!In this house the laundry room is the hallway from the garage to the kitchen, so this area get a lot of use. It feels really nice now to pass through the laundry room all functional and decorative in a Farmhouse Style using many of my junking treasures and some of the items I’ve made. The baskets on top hold items I don’t use very often. That explains the iron on the top shelf!! Did I mention ironing for me comes right behind folding clothes!
If you aren’t in love with your Laundry room, why not try decorating it the way you would the rest of your home! Make it functional first then add decorative touches, add texture and color, and soon the space will be more inviting! And a more inviting space will make it so much easier to get the dreaded chores done! I hoped you enjoyed my little Laundry Room Makeover!
Leaving for Louisiana in the morning!
Until next time,
