Before I really got started working on this blog, I was working on some simple woodworking projects and I want to share the rustic block frames I made with you today! This isn’t exactly a how to, because I don’t have any step by step photos to share with you. I’m trying to do better about that now. I do think you can do it anyway, I’ll just walk you through it!!
Rustic Block Photo Frames
These are fun if you haven’t tried them, it just takes a 2×8 cut into squares. Round off the edges. I use my router (thanks Dad) but a sander works too!
Stain the blocks first, paint on a couple of coats of whatever paint is on hand! Sand again to let some of the stain show through.
I like to add some random stenciling and a little more distressing. The little finales are glued into holes drilled in the top.
The finishing touch is a little twine or ribbon to hold the photo and then I add a little embellishment, like icing on a cake!
I usually do as many as I can at one time! In an 8ft board I can get 10-12 depending on my measuring and how precisely I cut! These are really fun to make and I gave some as gifts!
I hope you were inspired today to do something creative. There is a great feeling of satisfaction for me, maybe for you too!
Until next time!
