Hello my wonderful friends!
I’m crazy in love with my kitchen window.
Silly I know, but I’ve never had one like this! Deep and wide and just begging for something special. I can almost overlook the old sink and faucet, that has long since lost its shine, the mint green backsplash and tile that extends beyond the sink and the lack of privacy from my neighbors.
This ledge with the plants and little special things makes me really happy.
Sometimes I kill my plants 🙁
I water my little plants a little too often, using Blue Ridge berry bowls I’ve collected over the years. I keep a few of them on the little step stool my sister gave me recently. When she showed it to me I knew it was perfect, and I don’t even remember if I cleaned it up before putting it in its new forever home! I remember these as a kid with the hammer and pegs, did you have one like this?
We added the shutters my sister and I found in Alexandrea last year, to help with privacy, a little spray paint and they’re here to stay. I change the plants around quite a bit, but I must say my green thumb is improving, I’ve only killed 2 little guys in the last six weeks.
I haven’t found the right inspiration yet for the top of the window. It’s odd, the window goes all the way to the top of the opening without trim or sheetrock to frame it out. I’m afraid a valance of some kind might be helpful, but I can’t decide. Fabric, wood or some other material, maybe woven shades, but these all seem a little heavy and I’m afraid the proportions might be off and that would make me crazy.
So I continue to ponder the many options, one will come to me and when it does my little piece of paradise will be even better. In the meantime, I don’t look up, but instead concentrate on the part that pleases me!
So it’s funny to me that I can over look all the things that displease me about this area, (did I mention green formica countertops that I covered in contact paper) and still have it make me smile every time I see this little space?
I’ve rearranged it more times than any other place in my house and every time I love it more! Not to say that I don’t love my home because I do, very much! But this little space is special to me!
Do you have a tiny space in your home that brings you joy?
Until Next time!
